"Hate That I Love You" is a song by Barbadian recording artist Rihanna, released August 19, 2007. as third single from her third studio album Good Girl Gone Bad (2007). The song features vocals by American singer and songwriter Ne-Yo. Ne-Yo co-wrote the song together with Mikkel S. Eriksen and Tor Erik Hermansen, who produced the song under their stage name Stargate. Def Jam Recordings.
"Hate That I Love You" received generally positive reviews from contemporary music critics, with many of them comparing the song to previous works by Ne-Yo, most notably, Beyoncé Knowles' 2006 single "Irreplaceable". "Hate That I Love You" achieved moderate success in comparison with other singles from the album, reaching the top-twenty in more than thirteen countries, including Australia, Austria, Canada, France and Germany. It reached number 15 on the UK Singles Chart. "Hate That I Love You" peaked at number seven on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and at number three on the US Pop Songs chart.
The accompanying music video for "Hate That I Love You" was shot in Santa Barbara, California, and directed by Anthony Mandler. It features Rihanna's and Ne-Yo's characters meeting their respective love interests. An edited version of the video was made for the Spanglish version of the song; Ne-Yo's scenes were cut and replaced with scenes by Bisbal. Rihanna performed the song with both Ne-Yo and Bisbal on the 2007 American Music Awards and on the sixth series of Operación Triunfo respectively. "Hate That I Love You" was also part of the set lists of Rihanna's three worldwide tours, Good Girl Gone Bad (2007–09), Last Girl on Earth (2010–11) and the Loud Tour (2011).
